In 2015, at 19 years old, Quila said “yes” to Jesus led her into a whole new way of seeing the world and a new way of walking out my days. Soon after committing her life to Jesus she found a College ministry called Cru. She began getting involved, she was discipled, and began serving in student leadership. After Graduating with her Practical Nursing degree she continued volunteering with the ministry in her free time. It gave her so much joy and hope making space for young people to encounter the healing and redeeming love of God. In 2021, after a sequence of 3 tragic deaths close to her family, her heart broke for inner-city youth surviving in situations of gang violence, substance abuse, and poverty. She cried out to God to see him in these spaces.
Within 3 weeks of that prayer she was in Los Angeles shadowing the Cru High School (now Parable) team. While here, she saw a team of people who saw these kids, as well as their peers, went to their high school campuses, invited them to eat, and shared the unbreakable hope found in Jesus. God not only healed something in her, but also invited her to come back and be a part of this work. A few years after that vision trip, she finally made the move from Minnesota to Los Angeles. She landed here in November of 2024.
Since then, Quila’s been volunteering with the ministry at lunch clubs, Bible studies, and conferences. God is moving in this city, especially among high school students. She’s now joining Parable staff to have more capacity to labor for this beautiful harvest. I invite you now to enter these spaces with me by praying for me and this ministry, offering resources, and financially giving.
